Can I get a loft conversion?

Our experienced team will assess the space to work out any practical issues that may arise. We can work with an architect at the design stage to help form the plans. The architect will be aware of local planning regulations that may apply. The LC Design & Build team is experienced with the building regulations that apply.

We will carefully consider all aspects of the space including access, the ceiling height, flooring stability and strength, insulation, lighting and windows.

Although loft conversions are extremely common, not all lofts are suitable for conversion. You will require a survey to assess the practical elements of the roof and to identify any issues that may need to be revolved.

There are three main types of popular loft conversion, internal, dormer and mansard.

What is an internal loft conversion?

As the name implies, an internal loft conversion uses the existing space. This means minimal alterations to the roof space. The additions usually include windows, access, insulation and work to strengthen the floor.

What is a dormer loft conversion?

Dormer loft conversions increase the volume of the roof space by adding a dormer window to the roof. Depending on planning permission they can be added to the front, back or side of the property.They are a popular choice for adding extra bedrooms, playrooms, offices or en-suite bathrooms.

What is a Mansard loft conversion?

A mansard loft conversion requires part of the roof to be replaced with a new structure. This type of loft conversion may be required if there is not enough headroom in the original roof. Some loft conversions do not require planning permission but that is very unlikely to be the case with a mansard loft conversion
